New HBO Fantasy Series "American Gods" in Development

HBO has acquired the rights to Neil Gaiman’s Hugo and Stoker Award-winning New York Times bestseller American Gods for development as a fantasy series. Academy Award-winning cinematographer Robert Richardson – who will co-write the series pilot with Gaiman – brought the novel to the attention of Tom Hanks & Gary Goetzman’s Playtone (Big Love, The Pacific, John Adams), who in turn brought it to HBO.
