Warner Bros. announced April 10 via a press release that director Zack Snyder’s new Superman film will be titled Man of Steel, and that Superman, played by Henry Cavill, will be going up against General Zod, this time portrayed by actor Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road, Boardwalk Empire).

The main cast also includes Amy Adams as Lois Lane, and Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as Martha and Jonathan Kent. Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder are the producers of the film. The screenplay is being written by David S. Goyer based on a story by Goyer and Nolan. Thomas Tull and Lloyd Phillips are serving as executive producers.

The next comic part of DH: HD, the initiative from Dark Horse, Toshiba, and USA Today, is Serenity: Downtime, an all-new, eight-page story exclusive to USAToday.com that comes from writer Zach Whedon and artist Chris Samnee.

After the second episode of The Walking Dead brought in 4.7 million viewers, AMC announced that it had renewed the show for a 13-episode second season via a press release. No details about when those episodes might begin airing were provided. Click here for more information.

Warner Bros. Consumer Products, DC Entertainment and Nick Grace of Water Lane Productions Ltd. have announced that the live show entitled Batman Live will begin touring the United Kingdom and other cities in Europe beginning summer 2011 before coming to North America in 2012. Details from the press release are as follows:

"Opening in Manchester on July 20, 2011 and visiting Newcastle, Glasgow, Sheffield, Birmingham, London, Liverpool, Nottingham, Dublin and Belfast, tickets for “Batman Live” go on sale on Friday, November 12, 2010. 'Batman Live' is a visually stunning production, complete with a brand new original storyline. The live show will feature Batman, his trusty counterpart Robin, tireless butler Alfred and a host of other favouriteBatman characters, including Villains such as The Joker, The Riddler, Catwoman and The Penguin. The story will take place in several settings from the famed DC Comics stories, including Gotham City, Wayne Manor, the Batcave and Arkham Asylum." In a Wall Street Journal interview, Robert Iger, the chief executive of Walt Disney Co., provided his views on where Disney is going as a company and confirmed that the integration of Marvel Entertainment into the greater Disney family will involve three live-action TV series for ABC/ABC Family. Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have named Zack Snyder as the director for the upcoming Christopher Nolan-produced Superman film. Snyder is known best for his work on the comic book-based 300 and Watchmen. Nolan and his Batman Begins collaborator David S. Goyer are credited with the Superman story, with Goyer providing the completed script. Source: Deadline.com.
