ABC News and multiple other sources are reporting that Eric Kripke, creator of the CW’s Supernatural, is the front-runner to develop DC Comics/Vertigo’s The Sandman as a television series for Warner Bros. TV.
When multiple award-winning author Neil Gaiman introduced his carefully crafted, post-modern mythology in The Sandman, the literary community and readers worldwide immediately took notice. The series won Bram Stoker and World Fantasy Awards, as well as a nomination for a Hugo. In its pages, readers also met Death, Dream’s sexy older sibling, and other members of The Endless like Destiny, Desire and Delirium.
Like DC’s Watchmen, The Sandman revolutionized comic book storytelling. And, like the months preceding the release of Warner Bros.’ Watchmen movie, prior to The Sandman series debut you can expect a spike in demand for related merchandise tied to Gaiman’s “dreamy” saga.
